Orin Meltz

Orin Dean Meltz was born January 6, 1925 in Sparta, WI to Edward and Alsie Meltz. He was raised and educated in Sparta. Orin served with the US military in WWII. He was united in marriage to Lillian Cork in 1949 in Thief River Falls, MN where they made their home. They later divorced. He was united in marriage to Helen Syvertson in Detroit Lakes, MN in 1963. He worked as a cook for many years and then worked for the Red Owl Store in Detroit Lakes until retiring. Helen died in 2005.
Orin enjoyed cooking, gardening, activities at the VFW and visiting with his family and friends.
Survivors include a daughter, Vyann (Doug) Grant of Battle Creek, MI, a son: Dale Scott Meltz of Superior, WI, a step daughter: Dorothy (Elvin) Block of Detroit Lakes, a step son: Don (Bea) Syvertson of Lake Park, MN, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. In adition to his wife, Helen, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Gordon Syvertson, 3 brothers, Jason, Leonard and Willard and a sister: Alice.
