Otto Swonger Jr.

Otto Swonger Jr., 54, of Detroit Lakes, MN died on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Otto was born on May 17, 1968, the son of Otto and Mary (Gehrke) Swonger in Spooner, WI. He received his GED and enrolled in the US Army and received machinist training through M State.

Otto always found the positive in others and did his best to be a caregiver and help wherever he could. He wore many hats of employment throughout his life, working mainly as a CNC Machinist. Otto was a member of the Eagles Club, VFW, and American Legion.  He enjoyed spending time in wildlife and nature, reading, bebating, fishing, hunting, visiting with friends, and most importantly he had a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior and loved that walk.

He was married twice, Helen (Olsen) and Wendy (Clews) Jahnke.

He is preceded in death by his father, Otto Swonger Sr., grandparents, C.D. and Vi Swonger, and Fredrick and Hazel (Williams) Gehrke, and many aunts and uncles.

Otto is survived by his mother, Mary Anne Knopf, Detroit Lakes, MN, sisters: Bobbi (Jeff) Lormis, Rochert, MN and Suzanne (Justion) Swonger Salinas, Capistrano, CA, brothers: Tim (Christine)   Swonger, Anoka, MN and Phillip (Deborah) Swonger, Detroit Lakes, MN, step-brother, John (Jackie) Stiyer, Detroit Lakes, MN, step-sisters: Vonda (Glen) Eidenschink, Detroit Lakes, MN and Cheryl Leeman, Detroit Lakes, MN, aunt Rose Gehrke, Superior, WI  as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Burial: 9:30 AM, Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Fort Snelling Cemetery, St. Paul, MN.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
