Patricia Kathleen Olson

Patricia Kathleen Olson, 72, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away unexpectedly from heart failure on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes.

Born on July 19, 1952, in St. Paul, MN, Patricia—affectionately known as "Patty"—was the daughter of Dean and Kathleen (Bares) Bennett. She attended Mechanic Arts High School in St. Paul and contributed her time assisting nuns at St. Mary’s Church with various duties.

Patty married Steven LaDoux from White Earth, MN, and welcomed their daughter, Julie Kay, on October 6, 1971. The couple later divorced. On January 8, 1979, she married Carl Olson. Together they lived in several locations throughout Minnesota, including Little Canada, Coon Rapids, and Forest Lake. Upon retirement, they settled in Otsego before moving to Detroit Lakes.

Patty was known for her love of reading, completing jigsaw puzzles, and shopping. She was a dedicated worker who served as a waitress and head cook at various restaurants. Additionally, she spent time as an electronic products’ technical assembler at NCR Comten in Roseville, MN. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Patty is survived by her husband Carl; her daughter Julie LaDoux Dimmen; step-sons Scott and Brian Olson; grandchildren Ashley and Tyler LaDoux, Katelin Dimmen, and Madison Kern; great-grandchildren Jaxson, Rayden, Carson, Milo, Xaylee, and Ryot; brothers Gary Bennett, Jim Bennett, and Mike Bennett; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; her infant son Joseph; brothers Darrel and Tom; sister Linda; step-son Greg; and brothers-in-law Richard and Lawrence Olson.
