Paul R. Johnson, 84, Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Four Seasons Health Center-Nursing Home, Forman, ND.
Paul Richard Johnson was born May 13, 1930 near Elbow Lake, MN to James O. and Agnes M. (Ostland) Johnson. He attended school in Elbow Lake and on December 10, 1947 enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he resided in the state of Virginia for several years. Paul was united in marriage to Virginia Perry on June 20, 1952. To this union was born one daughter, Judy. Paul returned to Elbow Lake and was employed at the OK Tire Shop. On November 15, 1958 he was united in marriage to Burdell Wahl and to this union had three sons, Michael, Douglas and Brian. Paul worked as a marine mechanic at Detroit Marine until it closed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed getting together with family. Later in life, he enjoyed playing bingo with his granddaughter Heather and his daughter-in-law, Krista.
Paul is survived by his four children: Judy (Ed) Kiplinger of Palmyra, Virginia, Michael Johnson of Detroit Lakes, Douglas (Krista) Johnson of Detroit Lakes and Brian (Melanie) Johnson of Ansbach, Germany along with 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters: Leonard Johnson Missouri, Jerome (Ginny) Johnson of Colorado, Marlys (Phil) Hagen of Missouri and Marion (Don) Knutson of Detroit Lakes.
He preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Ora (Arthur) Libke, Eleanor (Alvin) Uhlig and two brothers: Arnold Johnson and Leon (Donna) Johnson.
