Paul Duane Johnston was born January 16, 1918 at Ogema, Minnesota to Charles and Hattie (Brennan) Johnston. He was raised and educated in Ogema. Paul was united in marriage with Audrey Sauve June 28, 1941 in Terrebonne, MN. He served with the U. S. Army Air Corps during WW II. Following his discharge, he returned to Detroit Lakes where he was employed with Standard Oil until his retirement in 1975.
Paul was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Holy Rosary Council Knights of Columbus and Jess Omundson Post 1676 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed flying airplanes and ultralites with his son, Steve, hunting, buying new cars and taking care of his car.
Paul is survived by his wife, Audrey of Detroit Lakes; a son, Steve and his wife, Kathy of Hawley, MN; a daughter, Sandra and her husband, Wade Hopkins of Sugar Land, Texas; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles and a sister, Bonita Landt.
