Peggy Lynette Korell, 61, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14 at her home in Perham after a brief illness. Peggy was born April 5, 1955 in Emmett, ID. She was the 13th of 15 children born to John and Helen (Deines) Korell. The family moved to Lake Park, MN in 1964. Peggy attended school in Detroit Lakes and was always happy to help on the family farm. Though born with Down Syndrome, Peggy loved life and those around her. She thoroughly enjoyed dancing, singing, swimming, writing and coloring, playing cards and being outside. She was a practical joker, enjoyed hide and go seek and she loved to laugh. Peggy stayed active in many Special Olympic events, acquiring many ribbons and achievements for her participation. She enjoyed working for 8 years at Productive Alternatives in Perham until she "retired" in 2007. Peggy loved coffee, good food, blue jeans and cowboy boots. She brought much love and happiness to our large family and her many friends. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Johnny and Jerry; two sisters: Luane and infant sister Janice; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Korell and Brenda Deines; and one brother-in-law, Vernon Kilburn. Peggy is survived by her five brothers and five sisters: Arnold of Boise, ID; Tom (Linda) of Emmett, ID; Gordon (Rita) of Urbandale, IA; Jack (Lois) of Emmett, ID; Don (Loreen) of Emmett, ID; Edna Kilburn of Emmett, ID; Sue Larson (Larry) of Detroit Lakes, MN; Patty Beske (Wendell) of Perham, MN; Penny Hoburg (Scott) of Emmett, ID; Cindy Black (Mike) of Cheyenne, WY; one sister-in-law: Donna Korell of Laurel, MT; one brother-in-law: Willie Dillman of Torrington, WY; many nieces and nephews, and special care-giver Tammy Nelson. Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at the Perham Group Home for their many years of loving care to Peggy and also to hospice care for their compassionate support.
