Penny DeGroat

Penny Jo DeGroat died by suicide on August 21st, 2022 at her home in Detroit Lakes. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Bernice J. St. Clair and Donald H. DeGroat on December 11, 1964. She grew up all over Minnesota, ending school at Centennial High School. She earned her Associates Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician from St. Paul Technical College in 1994. She loved animals, fishing, volunteering, arts and crafts and organizing events.

She was a devoted Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, and caregiver. She was preceded in death by her Grandparents; mother Bernice; her father Donald; her sister Debbie June; her brother Floyd (Fritz); and many other cousins, friends and loved ones. She is survived by her daughters, Sarah and Melissa; her grandchildren, Tayten, Kaden and Addlynn; her Siblings, Donald “Buck”, Dorothy, Michelle (Dave), Barbara, and Timothy; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
