Perle Jane Crosby Cummings, 86, of Detroit Lakes, MN, died April 10, 2015 at Oak Crossing, Detroit Lakes. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 14 at 11AM in United Methodist Church, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held Monday, April 13 at David Donehower Funeral Home from 5PM-7PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be held in Lakeside Cemetery, Richwood, MN.
Perle Jane Crosby was born January 28, 1929 in McIntosh, SD to Elton and Rainey (Harrison) Crosby. She grew up in the years of the great depression when they did not have much but she always considered their family rich in what was important in life. In 1947, she married the love of her life, Willis H. Cummings, a union that would last until "death do us part", when Willis passed away in 2009 after 62 years of a marriage made in heaven. They moved to Minneapolis where Willis owned and operated a construction company until a job-site accident caused him to leave the profession. They moved to Strawberry Lake in 1959 and developed and operated Cummings Campsite until 1971 when they sold and moved to a home they built on Strawberry Lake. They enjoyed the antique business, buying, selling and restoring furniture and in her "spare" time, Perle loved her quilting. They continued to love the lake and were able to enjoy it for many years until it became too much for them to take care of and they had to make one of their hardest decisions ever to move to Detroit lakes. Perle is survived by children: Willis "Buck" (Marilyn) Cummings, Judy (Mike) Nodsle both of Detroit Lakes and Dennis (Dawn) Cummings of Titusville, FL. In addition she is survived by six granddaughters: Andrea (Louis) Tamburro of Orlando, FL, Sarah (JR) Clark of Moorhead, Amy (Mitch) Baker of Sumpter, NC, Tami Cummings of Detroit Lakes, Chrissy (Brian) Eck of Bemidji, and Allison (Shaun) Leisure of Titusville, FL, three sisters: Marion (Verlon) Dalin of Crosby, ND., Eva (Clifford) Kluck of Bismarck, ND, Carol (Marvin) Muff of Osage, one brother: Marvin (Sharon) Crosby of Minneapolis, MN along with eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Perle is preceded in death by her husband, Willis (2009) and siblings: Norman, Rosita and Russell.
