Philip Kunz

Philip Arnold Kunz was born on December 7, 1926 in Madelia, MN to Aloysius and Anne (Cash) Kunz. He was united in marriage to Betty Crotts on December 7, 1962, in Park Rapids, MN, divorcing in June of 1978. Phil grew up in Madelia and later relocated to Callaway, MN, Rochert, MN and Detroit Lakes. In addition to hobby farming, Phil dedicated 18 years as an employee of Tomlinson’s Lumber of Callaway, MN where he drove truck and operated the forklift. He retired from Swift’s after several years of employment. Throughout his life he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, playing sheephead and attending church every Saturday evening.  Everyone knew and loved Phil for his gift of gab and his bountiful story telling.

Phil will be remembered and missed by his loving family Mark (Pam) McDonald of West Fargo, ND, Laurie (Todd) Stugelmayer of Fargo, ND, Linda (Scott) Rothenberger of Prior Lake, MN, Sheri (Jason) Chelmo of Prior Lake, MN, David Kunz of Detroit Lakes and Shelia (Matthew) Becker of St. Louis Park, MN, along with 13 beautiful grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Helen Tasto of Madison, MN and Irene Johnson of Detroit Lakes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Joseph, Leonard, Harold and Edward and two sisters: Loretta and Alicia.
