Ramona (Mona) E. Noyes, age 88 of Detroit Lakes, MN, went home to the Lord August 16, 2020 at her residence at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, under the care of Hospice and senior living caregivers.
Ramona Eva Noyes was born November 19, 1931 in St Martin, MN to Edward and Clara (Flint) Pung. She grew up in St Cloud, MN, and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1948. After high school she moved to Little Falls to attend nursing school, where she met the love of her life, Robert M. Noyes. They were united in marriage on August 18, 1951 and moved to various cities in Minnesota due to Bob’s work, until finally settling down in Detroit Lakes in 1956. Mona was a dedicated homemaker and loving, supportive wife, mother and friend. She also will be remembered as the secretary for Detroit Lakes High School from 1968– 1978.
Mona had a passion for all sports, she played volleyball and was a good bowler, she enjoyed watching football and baseball. She loved working in her garden and in the yard, and canning and freezing the produce of their garden, known for her wonderful dill pickles! She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and was active in her church. She enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining and loved the gatherings of friends and family at her long-time home on Floyd Lake. She and Bob spent many winters in Oregon and Arizona.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; three daughters, Diane (Bob) Gorden of Detroit Lakes, MN, Debbie (Mike) Fortin of Reno, NV, and Cheryl (Randy) Swedberg of Mapleton, OR; her two brothers Vern (Erliss) Pung, of Laurel, MS, and Orville (Nadine) Pung of Stillwater, MN; sister-in-law Dorothy Noyes, Park Rapids, MN; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Viola Mikel.
