Raymond Buschette

Raymond S. Buschette, 89, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at his home.  Raymond Sylvester Buschette was born December 18, 1924 in Mahnomen, MN to Alois and Barbara (Walz) Buschette.  He was raised and educated in Mahnomen and is a 1942 graduate of Mahnomen High School.  Following graduation, he worked on the family farm.  Ray was united in marriage to Lillian Lacina, April 25, 1946 in Mahnomen.  That fall, they moved to Detroit Lakes where Ray worked for Johnston Transfer, set pins at the bowling alley and worked for Hoseth Plumbing.  For the next 30 years, he worked for the city of Detroit Lakes Water and Light, retiring as Superintendent in 1986.  During that same time, he was also the boiler engineer for St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes.  Following his retirement, he helped his wife Lillian with her day care business. Ray enjoyed holding Lillian's hand, holding babies, deer hunting, spearing fish, gardening and going to garage sales. Survivors include his children: Mary (Erv) Cahlin of Detroit Lakes, Larry (Dixie) of Elverta, CA, Linda (Ed) Jutz of Frazee, MN, Ron (Mary) of Detroit Lakes, Mic (Blanche) of Detroit Lakes, Alice (Jerry) Neuleib of Fergus Falls, MN, Debbie (Doug) Hildre of Oak Grove, MN, Mark (Bev) of Detroit Lakes, Bruce (Dawn) of Detroit Lakes, Brenda (Denny) Ahlfs of Detroit Lakes, Kim (Bob) Johnson of Detroit Lakes, 27 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and three on the way, two brothers, Lloyd (Edna) of Detroit Lakes and Clarence (Shirley) of Mahnomen, MN.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian on July 24, 2014, an infant son, Scott, a grandson, Chad Jutz, an infant granddaughter, Amy Jo Johnson and an infant great grandson, Elliot Close, four brothers: Dan, Lawrence, Ivan, Edwin, two sisters: Irene and Sylvia.
