Raymond S. Larson passed away the morning of May 6th with his family surrounding him at Oak Crossing Nursing Center.
He was born July 20, 1942, to Margaret A. and Gilbert O. Larson and grew up in the hills of Stillwater, MN. He graduated from the College of Gustavus Adolphus and continued to obtain his Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary in St. Paul. He served as a Minister for the next 55 years in some capacity. The churches that he served were Lake Norden, SD, Detroit Lakes, MN, Brush, CO and Limón, CO.
He was an avid hunter with his son, son-in law and grandson, he did taxidermy and never found a rock he didn’t love or lick. He loved to make jewelry for friends and family but mostly for his wife, daughter and granddaughters. He loved to travel and scare everyone driving the mountain passes of Colorado and he loved to sit and marvel at God’s wonder at the ocean side.
He was active in the National Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. He taught hunter education to upcoming hunters. He was a previous Kiwanis Member and loved to give back to his community. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and never turned away from a plate of lutefisk. He was always quick to help in every situation from car trouble to building houses. His favorite tool was a roll of duct tape.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathryn, son, Erik and daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Heyer; his four grandchildren Katie, Tyler, Kelsie and Kersten and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard Larson, sister Carol (Miller) Larson.
