Richard Carl Anderson

Richard C. Anderson age 59 of Detroit Lakes, MN died April 25, 2024, at Ecumen – Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.

Richard Carl Anderson was born August 9, 1964, in Moorhead, MN. He was raised by his loving parents, Morris and Lilli Anderson, along with his sister Kristen “Tula”, and Grandma Ethel Larsen. Together they had many adventures over the years at the Family’s resort on Pelican Lake. Rich loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, and motocross. He was also an avid swimmer. He enjoyed all sports, the MN Wild being a favorite of his.

Richard was united in marriage to Rose Strauch on September 6, 1986. They were blessed with two children, Derek and Megan. Rich was so proud of both his children and three grandchildren, Xylee, Myka, and Kai, and their families. Rich had a special place in his heart for his sister Tula and his sister Barb who found Rich later in life.

Rich always had a vision for the future and would finish what he started. He was a friend you could always count on. Later in life Rich developed a strong relationship with Jesus. He loved the lord more than anything else. He was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ for he knew the power and grace of the cross. Rich loved to worship the Lord and worshipping God brought him great joy. Rich finished the race well.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; two children, Derek (Brianne) Anderson, and Megan (Brandon) Tschirhart; three grandchildren, Xylee, Myka, and Kai Anderson; mother, Lilli Balkan; sisters, Tula (Sean) Smajstrla and Barb (Brice) Harris; niece, Emilia Smajstrla; and nephew, Corbin Smajstrla.

He was preceded in death by his father, Morris and his grandmother, Ethel Larsen and grandfather, Carl Larsen.

Funeral Services will be on Tuesday April 30, 2024; 11:00 a.m. at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Cormorant Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lake Park, MN.
