Richard W. Luehn, 82, of Audubon, MN died on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the Frazee Care Center in Frazee, MN.
Richard William Luehn was born on January 8, 1941, the son of William and Anna (Klinke) Luehn at the Canova Hospital in Canova, SD. He attended country school for three years, then St. Mary’s Catholic School in Salem, SD, where he graduated in 1958.
Richard farmed near Salem until 1963. He served as a member of the South Dakota National Guard, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Big Cormorant Lakes Sportsman's Club. He also attended classes at Bemidji State University, where he obtained his degree in Bachelors of Science.
Richard met the love of his life, Bernice C. Hochstein, and they were married September 7, 1963, at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Fordyce, NE. They were blessed with two daughters, Tamera Ann and Michelle Marie.
They lived in Omaha, NE where he worked as a computer operator at Cudahy Packing until 1966. Then moving to Albert Lea, MN, he worked at the Streater Store until 1973 as a computer operator. They then moved to Sabin, MN, where Richard taught computer programming at Northwest Tech College.
They purchased a condo on Big Cormorant Lake near Audubon, MN in June 1990. Richard would drive to Moorhead where he taught, but in his spare time he enjoyed fishing and his home on the lake. He retired from teaching in 2001,but worked as a treasurer for the Condo Association.
Together, Richard and Bernice enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, and traveling to spend time with family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Luehn and his 8 siblings.
Richard is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Bernice Luehn, and their two daughters, Tamera and Michelle, five grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
