Richard (Dick) Timothy Wirth, 78, of Detroit Lakes passed away on March 18, 2021 under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Born in Iowa to Benjamin Wirth and Lillian Otterness, he lived the majority of his life in Detroit Lakes, MN. Dick was a Vietnam Veteran, an Insurance Agent, an Auxillary Policeman, Quarter Master and later Manager of the Detroit Lakes VFW. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.
In 1965 he married Carla Jirava. In their 25 years of marriage they had 5 children.
He is survived by his daughters: Rhonda (Tom) Peters, Rosemount, MN, Pamela (Jeff) Fleck, Bismarck, ND, LeeAnn (Patrick) Tomko, Bloomington, MN, Tiffany (Jason) Ness, Moorhead, MN, and his son, Trevor Wirth, St. Cloud, MN and his 7 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers - Duane (Sue) Wirth and Gene Wirth; and sisters - Barb Moser and Sheri Amundson and sister-in-law Barb Wirth.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Mike and brother-in-law Duane Moser.
Dick was cremated and there will be a graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery on Saturday, June 19th at 11 o’clock.
