Ricky Cummings

Ricky Jay Cummings, age 30 of Detroit lakes, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 16, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, May 21 at The Detroit Lakes Assembly of God Church. Ricky was born in Stockton, CA on July 31, 1984 to Lon Cummings and June Newman. As a child he moved to the Northwest where he spent many years living in Idaho, Washington, and Montana. As an adult he returned to his heartland and resided in Mendocino, CA. There he worked in organic farming and as a tile contractor. Recently he moved to Minnesota to be with his family and to open a tile contracting business. Ricky enjoyed spending time with his family at reunions. He loved traveling, skateboarding, and his dogs. He was a talented musician who loved to play the djembe drums and didgeridoo at music festivals. He had a passion for living and teaching a natural, organic lifestyle. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Homer Newman and Fern Johnson; relatives, Mikey Johnson, and Amy Newman. He is survived by his father, Lon (Bibian) Cummings of Detroit Lakes, MN; his mother June (Billy) Newman-Baker of Boise, ID; a sister, Amber (Jesse) Guyett of Boise, ID; grandparents, Ema Newman of Stockton, CA, and Lon (Lynn) Cummings of Kalispell, MT; two nephews, Chance Johnson and Charlie Box; and a niece, Carmon Box. He was loved by everyone he met and accepted as family by all.
