Roger Burdean Bagne was born December 12, 1928 in Clearbrook, MN to Oscar and Mathilda (Skime) Bagne. He moved with his family to Erskine, MN at the age of 6 and graduated from Erskine High School in 1946. After attending Moorhead State College for 4 years, he served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War, 1951 – 1953. He then owned Bagne's Meat Market in Erskine. Roger was united in marriage to Idelle Nornes, June 5, 1955 at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine. They had three children, Penny, Patty (adopted when she was 5) and Bob (adopted when he was 2) . He worked as a sales rep. for Vernon Company for several years before moving to Moorhead, MN where he became Asst. Sales Manager for Silver Line Boats. He and Idelle owned and operated Roger's Cat Castle for 10 years selling snowmobiles and accessories for Arctic Cat. He loved snowmobiling and all the trips he took with Arctic Cat. Roger was also a Real Estate Agent with Town and Country Real Estate selling homes and lake properties. After his retirement, his family moved to Big Sugar Bush Lake in the Ogema area. He worked part time for Ketter's Meats in Frazee for several years. He then owned "Docks By Roger" at the lake as a dealer for Newman Manufacturing Company. Roger loved all sports. He excelled at basketball and track at Erskine High School. He played varsity basketball at Moorhead State College for four years. While in the service, he played basketball for the 59th Ordinance, winning the championship and being named to the All Star Team. His greatest enjoyment was following the hockey careers of his grandchildren, Anthony and Carmen and his nephew, Troy Bagne. He also enjoyed living at Big Sugar Bush Lake where he was surrounded by family, nieces, nephews and extended family. Roger was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an excellent salesman and appreciated all of the friends he met in his business. He enjoyed being a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine, Christ The King Lutheran Church in Moorhead and First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. He taught Sunday School for several years. He and Idelle were currently living at Lincoln Park Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes. Prior to Lincoln Park, they lived at Pleasantview for four years. Survivors include his loving wife, Idelle of Detroit Lakes, daughters, Penny Aguirre of New Hope, MN, Patricia Song of Willow, Alaska, a son, Robert Bagne of Bloomington, MN, 2 grandchildren, Anthony and Carmen and a former son-in-law, Ramon Aguirre. He was preceded in death by parents, brothers, Roy, Dean and Paul Bagne, his in-laws: Brent and Martha Nornes, brothers-in-law, Berdeen, Maurice and George Nornes and sister-in-law, Grace Bagne and Jill Nornes. Roger will be sorely missed but we are grateful for the example that he set for all of us being a God fearing, loving and caring man.
