Roger Tychsen

Roger Kirby Tychsen of Detroit Lakes, MN died suddenly on January 9, 2015 of natural causes. Roger was born September 1, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN and was the only child of Carl Arthur Tychsen and Jeanne Marie Stutsman. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, TX and then attended the University of North Texas where he studied History and Speech and competed on the Golf team. After college, Roger had a long Sales and Entrepreneurial career in the Golf and Turf Industry. He worked for Vigoro Industries travelling throughout the Western United States and Hawaii. He owned Pan Pacific Turf Supply and Pan Pacific Environmental located in Honolulu, HI where he extensively traveled throughout Southeast Asia and the Pacific Rim. He then wrapped up his professional career with Tessman Turf Supply Company, working the Minnesota and Dakota's marketplace upon his retirement a few years ago. Roger also had a few small part-time jobs from time to time that kept him busy in his retirement years, most recently being a sales associate at the ACE Hardware Store in Detroit Lakes, MN. There is no doubt that Roger Tychsen lived life to the fullest and loved his family dearly. He was a friendly, kind, and loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He enjoyed golf, classic cars, watching sports, and being a multi-generational 32 degree Freemason. Roger is survived by his beloved wife Asteria Tychsen; two sons, Chris (Jaime) Tychsen of Lomita, California, Benjamin Tychsen of Santa Barbara, CA; daughter Rebekah Tychsen of San Diego, CA. Step-daughters: Aiza Amor Amistoso in the Philippines and Allena Elizabeth Hodge of Detroit Lakes; Daughter-in-law: Jaime Tychsen; Grandchildren: Gabriella Tychsen, Camille Tychsen and Zeke Birky Alaistar. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at St. Andrew's Church in Hawley, MN. Schedule is as follows: 1:00 pm Masonic Service, 2:00 pm Traditional Service, reception following. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Shriners Hospital, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association or Asteria.
