Roger Wermager

July 16, 1931 — February 2, 2015

Roger O. Wermager, 83, Lake Park, MN, having the certain hope of eternal life because of his personal relationship with Christ Jesus his Savior, was called to his heavenly home on Monday, February 2, 2015 at his residence in Englewood, FL surrounded by family and under care of Hospice.

Funeral Services for Roger will be held Monday, February 9 at 11AM in First Baptist Church, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 8 at David Donehower Funeral Home from 4PM-7PM with a time of sharing for family and friends at 6:30PM. Visitation will also continue at the church one hour prior to services on Monday. Interment will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes with Military Honors accorded by Lake Region Veterans Honor Guard of Detroit Lakes. Roger Odin Wermager was born July 16, 1931 in Mahnomen, MN to Odin and Nora (Bucholz) Wermager. He attended school in Twin Valley, graduating in 1949. He attended the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Lola Eakle on January 2, 1953 in Eveleth, MN. They resided on Big Cormorant Lake. Roger was employed with Amoco Oil Company for 32 years as a district sales manager. Retiring in 1988, Roger and Lola enjoyed many years wintering in Englewood, FL and spending summers on Big Cormorant. Their marriage was the epitome of a loving couple. Together, they raised four sons and one daughter and recently celebrated 62 years of wedded bliss. Roger was an outdoor enthusiast, an avid hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed many fishing and hunting excursions with his family and friends throughout the years. He was a wonderful storyteller and inspirational speaker who always wanted to positively influence those around him with his Christian values. His greatest wish would be that his kids and grandchildren would know the love of the Lord. Roger was a very active member of First Baptist Church serving on the Deacon Board for many years. Roger will be remembered and missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, Lola, his four sons: Warren Wermager of Audubon, MN, Kirk (Sheryl) of Rapid City, SD, Kevin (Lynette) of Spearfish, SD, Eric (Nancy) of Hawley, MN and one daughter: Lisa (Kirk) Ross of Lakeville, MN. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren along with three sisters and two brothers: Helen (Duane) Malmskog of Flom, MN, Norma Peterson of Fargo, Janice (Chaney) Mickelson of Twin Valley, MN, Doug (Rudella) Wermager of Lake Park, MN and Donnie (Jeannie) Wermager of Buffalo, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents along with two sisters and one brother: Audrey Parisian, Thelma McDermott and Harold Wermager.
