Ronald Paskey

Ronald Christian Paskey 88, left this world on December 1, 2023, while touring The Alamo in San Antonio, TX. Ron, the son of Clarence (Mike) and May Paskey, was born in Detroit Lakes, MN on June 28, 1935.

As they made their home in Waubun, MN, Ron graduated from Waubun High School and then earned degrees in business and marketing from UND, Grand Forks, ND, as well as, a degree in education from MSC, Moorhead, MN.

Having served in the US Army, plus six years in the Army Reserves, he was a strong patriot and loved his country.

After traveling as a sales rep for International Foods and Red Star Yeast companies, Ron became known as an entrepreneur, engaging in numerous business adventures that helped develop and promote Detroit Lakes. He welcomed vacationers at Lakecrest Resort, 40 years, and at the AmericInn Lodge and Suites of Detroit Lakes, 22 years; plus operated stores in the Washington Square Mall: On Deck and The Goodie Shoppe, while he entertained 45 stops in the area, via Eagle Vending, with games and music. He also sold and delivered Porta Docks and Lifts.

Ron is well remembered by his business students at the Detroit Lakes Vocational Technical Institute where he taught for 26 years.

In 1967, Ron met and married Ruth Gores, his wife of 56 years. Lovingly, they raised 5 children: Tracy Paskey, Nancy (Keith) LeCleir, Chris (Misse) Paskey, Ann Paskey, Jana Paskey.

Fishing, hunting, bowling, shooting pool, reading, playing cards, watching sports and Family Sunday Funday at the lake cabin were Ron’s favorite things to do. He liked to win and strived to be first.

Ron is survived by his wife Ruth, their 5 children, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, plus extended family of 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, as well as, his sister-in-law Lori Paskey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Mike and May Paskey, his brother Vincent Paskey and one great granddaughter Elizabeth Paskey.

Having been a lifetime faithful Catholic, services for Ron will be celebrated as follows:

Visitation and Prayer Service: Monday, December 18 at David-Donehower Funeral Home from 5–7:00 pm.

Memorial Mass: 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 19 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with visitation time from 12-1:00 pm.

David-Donehower Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes is serving the family.
