Rozella Alberta Honcik-Bigalke

December 1, 1933 — September 9, 2023

Detroit Lakes

Rozella Alberta Honcik, lovingly known as “Rosie”, peacefully passed away on September 9, 2023, at Ecumen, The Cottages in Detroit Lakes, MN. She was born on December 1, 1933, in Richville, MN to her proud parents, Fred and Hazel (Bordhardt) Jorgenson. With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on the lives of those around her.

Rozella's journey through life was one marked by kindness and a deep love for others. She dedicated much of her career as a grocery store cashier and stocked merchandise. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Rozella can attest to her warm and infectious smile. She radiated positivity wherever she went and had a unique ability to bring happiness to those around her. Her optimistic outlook on life was truly inspiring.

Rozella found immense joy in tending to her garden. Her green thumb knew no bounds as she nurtured plants and watched them flourish under her care. She took great pride in harvesting the fruits of her labor and generously shared the bountiful produce with others. Countless jars filled with homemade dill pickles and sauerkraut serve as a testament to Rozella's unwavering dedication to providing for those she loved. Rozella and Harold were known for their lefse making. They made lefse four days a week throughout the holiday season. Ten to 15 dozen per day it didn't take long to go through 500 pounds of potatoes. Their main effort was to make sure friends and family had their favorite food for Christmas time. The greatest satisfaction they got from their work is hearing compliments from those who ate the lefse. Rozella took great joy in surprising us all with her pork and bean bars.

Supporting Rozella throughout her journey in life was her beloved husband, Harold Honcik. Their union was one built on mutual respect and unwavering love. Together they created cherished memories that will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew them. Harold's presence brought immeasurable happiness to Rozella's life, and his memory lived on in her heart after his passing in 1988.

On March 20, 2003, Rozella married Arthur Bigalke. He passed away June 23, 2005.

Rozella leaves behind her sister, Loretta Wendt and many nieces and nephews, she created lasting memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
