Ruth Renier

Ruth L. Renier, 87, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Monday, November 9, 2015 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 17 at Grace Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Reverend Randy Whitehead, officiating. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, Battle Lake, MN. Visitation will be hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Those attending are encouraged to wear their Minnesota Vikings gear. Ruth L. Renier was born July 16, 1928 in Jamestown, ND to Phillip and Rose (Schwaderer) Bieber. She was raised and educated in Jamestown and is a 1946 graduate of Jamestown High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Lloyd "Frosty" Renier, May 3, 1947 in Jamestown. They then moved to Chicago while Frosty studied Optometry. Following Frosty's graduation in 1949, they moved to Oakes, ND. Ruth attended Valley City State College and became a certified medical records technician. She served as the Director of Medical Records for the Oakes Community Hospital. She later became a certified real estate appraiser and owned and operated Oakes Real Estate. Ruth was the first woman appraiser for the Federal Home Administration in the state of North Dakota. Ruth and Frosty moved to Detroit Lakes, MN in 1991 where she continued her career as a real estate appraiser. Frosty died in 2003. Ruth was a 50+ year member of PEO, served as Treasurer of the Oak Crossing Family Council and was a member of the Becker County Humane Society and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Survivors include a son: Mark (Mary Jo) Renier of Alpharetta, GA, 3 granddaughters: Michelle Renier of Fargo, ND, Ashley Renier of Atlanta, GA and Chelsea (Tyler) Murray of Atlanta, GA, a sister: Helen McDougall of North Ridge, CA. In addition to her husband, Frosty, she was preceded in death by two sons, Craig and Robert and two sisters: Elma and Esther. Memorials are preferred to PEO-Chapter DQ.
