Sallie Jean Bush was born January 22, 1933 in

to Jack R. and Alta (Erickson) Bush.
In 1937, her family moved to
Minneapolis
where Sallie graduated from
Washburn
High School
in 1950.
She attended the
University
Of
Minnesota
1950 – 1954 where she was a member of the Women’s Tennis Team and was the Women’s Singles Champion in 1952 & 53.
Sallie transferred to Mankato State College where she graduated with a Bachelor Of Science Degree in Education in 1955.
Sallie taught in
Nashwauk
,
MN
and
Grand Rapids
,
MN
prior to moving to
Fargo
,
ND
where she taught at
Clara
Barton
Elementary School
1961 – 1993.
In 1969, she purchased property on
Pickerel
Lake
near
Detroit
Lakes
. She spent her summers at
Pickerel
Lake
and school years in
Fargo
.
Since 1976, she has hosted the
Pickerel
Lake
4
th
of July Picnic at Bush Meadow.
In addition to her teaching, Sallie enjoyed her involvement in St.Luke’s Episcopal Church, PEO, The Pickerel Lake Association, The Plains Arts Museum, The Fargo Country Club and The Hjemkomst Museum.
She adored her family, friends and dogs.
She was a terrific teacher, not only to her students, but to all children with whom she came in contact.
Sallie will be fondly remembered and missed by her sister, Nancy (Rick) Wickenberg;
sister-in-law, Arlene Bush; eight nieces, Kathy (Eric) Larson, Susie (Tom) Schway, Penny (Dave) Mjolsness, Missy (Russ) Wilbur, Sandy (Bruce) Connor, Jenny (Jim) Schoofs, Alta (Rob) Costew, Nancy (Scott) Dinsmore; two nephews, Richard (Maria) Wickberg, David (Connie) Wickberg; 21 great-nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Dick and Georgia Hecock
and family, and Mary Ann Bond and family.
