Sandra K. "Sandi" Fearing, 73, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, died Friday, March 20, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.
Funeral Services for Sandi will be held Thursday, March 26 at 11AM in Zion Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 25 at David Donehower Funeral Home from 5PM-7PM with a 7PM Prayer Service. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Moorhead, MN Sandra Kay Ness daughter of Harry R. and Phyllis M (Crist) Ness was born August 22, 1941 in Lisbon, ND. She graduated from Fargo Central with the class of 1959. On August 6, 1960 Sandra was united in marriage to Elwood "El" Fearing at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo. From 1959-1966 Sandi was employed with Case IH. She would later work at McShanes and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota. On February 1, 1978, she accepted a position with St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo and for 26 years was employed as an office administrator. While living in Fargo, Sandi and El enjoyed going on bike rides along with riding motorcycle. In 1989, Sandi and El moved to their home on Upper Cormorant Lake. Sandi retired August 31, 2003. She enjoyed the peaceful surroundings at their lake home, from evening bonfires, motorcycle rides, to spending a summer day watching the grandchildren play; all created memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Some of Sandi's talents included quilting and ceramics. Over the years, she made special graduation quilts for her grandchildren and donated several quilts to the Refuge in Detroit Lakes. She loved being "Grandma" and enjoyed watching her grandchildren's activities and being present in their everyday lives.
A life centered on Christ and her family were the most important values to her. Each year Sandi and her siblings would celebrate each others birthdays, never missing one. Sandi lost her life partner when Elwood passed away on April 21, 2012, and again when her son Patrick passed away May 22, 2013. Her strong Faith carried her, knowing one day she would be reunited with them again. Sandi sold their lake home in 2012 and moved into Lincoln Park Senior Living, Detroit Lakes. Visiting over coffee and nickel bingo were activities she enjoyed. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Sandi's kind and gentle nature will be missed by everyone.
She is survived by one son: Jay (Lori) Fearing of Moorhead, daughter-in-law: Melissa (Charlie) Gooselaw of Lake Park, six grandchildren: Nicole Fearing of Minot, Jessica Fearing of West Fargo, Jason Fearing of Fargo, Tyler Fearing of Moorhead, Matthew Gooselaw of West Fargo and Ava Fearing of Lake Park. In addition she is survived by two sisters and two brothers: Mary (Doug) Weispfenning of Lake Park, Katie (Alan) Lako of Arthur, ND, Ron (Stacy) Ness of Kindred, Rick (Caroline) Ness of Carver, MN and one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Murna (David) Kalms of Venice, CA along with several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Elwood (2012), one son: Patrick Fearing, Goddaughter: Tonya Foss and nephew: Danny.
