Sean Alan Mitchell

August 8, 1965 — October 4, 2024

Callaway

Sean Alan Mitchell, a cherished husband, father, brother, son and friend passed away unexpectedly at his home in Callaway, Minnesota, on October 4, 2024. Born on August 8, 1965, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to Robert and Karen (Krogh) Mitchell, Sean lived a life that epitomized warmth, love, and devotion to his family.

Throughout his adult life, Sean dedicated himself to the craft of residential construction, showcasing his skills in drywall and painting. His commitment to his work was rivaled only by his dedication to his family, which he treasured above all else. Sean's happiest moments were spent in the company of his beloved wife, Sherri, and their children. He took immense pride in being a father and grandfather and was a guiding light in their lives.

Sean shared a particularly close bond with his brother, Gordy, living right next to each other, their homes serving as extra roots entwined in the family tree.

Sundays were a special occasion, a day to gather as a family and create lasting memories together. Sean's sense of humor and good-natured spirit filled their home with love and joy.

Graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1983, Sean carried a happy-go-lucky demeanor throughout his life. With twinkling eyes and a ready smile, he knew no stranger, always eager to lend a helping hand when needed. His warm personality left a mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Sean and Sherri had a passion for adventure; they loved his 1975 CJ5 Jeep, relishing the thrill of 4-wheeling together, spending time at deer camp, and exploring the great outdoors alongside family and friends. These adventures not only brought him joy but also allowed him to forge unforgettable memories with those he loved.

Sean's family sustains a legacy of love and laughter in the wake of his passing. He is survived by his devoted wife Sherri, children Abbi Mitchell, Tyler (Ilse) Zitzow, Lucas and Jacob Mitchell, and his precious granddaughter Maddie Mitchell. The family is also eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new grandchild, baby Zitzow due any day.

Sean also leaves behind his beloved mother, Karen Mitchell, his brother Gordy (Karen) Mitchell, and many cherished family members, including his mother-in-law Lynn (Tim) Lund, sister-in-law’s Sheila (Tim) Anderson and Sarah LaFriniere, brother-in-law Shane (Janice) LaFriniere, and Grammy Phyllis St. Claire, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will carry his memory in their hearts.

He is preceded in death by his father Robert and brother Michael.

Sean's legacy will forever resonate through the lives he touched and the love he shared. Though he has departed from this world, the impact of his spirit and the joy he brought to others will remain with us always.
