Sharon Marie Brett

Sharon Marie Brett, age 83, passed away peacefully at Frazee Care Center on September 28, 2024. Born to Verna and William Zieler on February 10, 1941, in Tyler, Minnesota, Sharon lived a life filled with love and family.

Sharon attended Detroit Lakes High School, and in 1958, she married her true love, Robert Brett, at the Baptist Church in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. They were happily married for 64 years and raised their three children on Cotton Lake. Sharon was a proud grandmother to Jeremiah (Ludmila) Nelson, Joshua Nelson, Philippa Brett, Araminta Brett, and Cressida Brett. She is also survived by her daughter Rosanna (Jon) Nelson, her son Thomas (Jennifer) Brett, and her brother Larry (Darlene) Hynding.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Brett, her son, Ronald Brett, and her brother, Gary.

Sharon spent many years working at St. Mary's Hospital in housekeeping and at Emmanuel Nursing Home in the laundry department. Outside of work, Sharon was passionate about sewing, attending auction sales, and collecting antiques. She was also musically gifted, playing both the piano and accordion.

Together with her husband, Robert, Sharon created a cherished replica of a General Store, which brought joy to many in the community. They took special pleasure in inviting residents of local nursing homes to visit and tour the store, sharing their love for history and community.

A special thank you goes out to the Frazee Care Center staff for their caring and compassion toward Sharon during the last five years of her life. Sharon's memory will be forever treasured by those who knew and loved her.

Funeral services for Sharon Brett will be held at David-Donehower Funeral Home, 609 US HWY 10 E, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501, on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 11 AM with Pastor William Knaack to officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior. Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
