Sharon R. Moe, 56, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Monday, April 30 at Emmanuel Nursing Home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 7, at David-Donehower Funeral Home. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery, New York Mills, MN.
Friends may call 4:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday with a time of sharing at 6:00 PM at David-Donehower Funeral Home. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Sharon Rose Moe was born January 27, 1956 in Park Rapids, MN to Melton and Esther (Hasty) Anderson. She attended Park Rapids Public Schools. She is a 1974 graduate of the Detroit Lakes Vocational School Medical Secretary Training Program. She worked for a time at the Detroit Lakes Vocational School and then for 22 years as a waitress including times at the Sunshine Café and at Denny's in Minneapolis and at Perkins in Detroit Lakes. She then took a Dale Carnegie Course and several cake decorating courses in Minneapolis. She loved to bake, doing wedding cakes, jellies and candies. She moved to Texas where she completed a travel agency course with Braniff Airlines. She then worked as a travel agent for Braniff and for Funtastic Tours and also continued her waitressing career in Texas. Sharon was united in marriage to Bruce Mortenson in 1983 in Texas. They later divorced. Following her return to Detroit Lakes, she worked in the Bakery Department at Evans Grocery Store. She was united in marriage to Robert Moe August 7, 1990 in Bemidji, MN.
He died in 2000. Sharon retired due to ill health in 2002. She was a very hard worker, often holding more than one job. She was also a giving person, often buying Christmas presents for the entire family. She will be deeply missed by her children, siblings and friends. Survivors include a son: Christopher Anderson of Bemidji, MN, a daughter: Tiffany Moe of Moorhead, MN, Brothers: Harold (Georgia) of Fergus Falls, MN, Bruce of St. Cloud, MN, John (Carol) of Fergus Falls, MN, Steven of Taft, CA, Terry of Detroit Lakes, six sisters: Gini (Ronnie) Oines of Park Rapids, MN, Susan Keezer of Elbow Lake Village, MN, Linda Anderson of Champlain, MN, Elizabeth Lindahl of Rockport, TX, Kristine Powell of Bemidji, MN, Jodi Dey of Detroit Lakes, MN.
