Stanley G. Loreth, 91, of Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Callaway, MN, died at Oak Crossing on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be made in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 P.M. with a rosary to follow.
Stanley was born to Frank and Elizabeth (Stremik) Loreth on December 27, 1918 in Landon, ND. As a young man he joined the Civil Conservation Corp traveling throughout the United States. Shortly thereafter he joined the United States Army and was promoted to Sergeant in the 4
th
armored tank division under General George S. Patton, traveling Europe extensively. After WWII, he married Theresa M. (LaPorte) Loreth in Langdon, ND. He then moved from Langdon, ND to the Detroit Lakes, MN area and later Callaway, MN where he farmed for over 50 years.
Stanley enjoyed riding horses, dancing, wood working, playing cards and most of all, visiting with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the Lions and Detroit Lakes VFW.
Stanley is survived by his son, Wallace (Lina) Loreth of Audubon, MN; six grandchildren: Christine (Jon) Burnside of Detroit Lakes, MN Joe (Tracy) Loreth of Cormorant, MN, Carol (Bruce) Retz of Callaway, MN, Michelle (Todd) Andresen of Detroit Lakes, MN, Charlie (Rachel) Loreth of Callaway, MN and John (Christina) Loreth of St. Cloud, MN along with nine great grandchildren.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Theresa in 2002 and several siblings.
