Steven M. Caspers, 62, of Detroit lakes, MN died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at his home under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 14 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM Sunday, September 13 at the funeral home and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Steven Michael Caspers was born March 24, 1947 in Detroit Lakes to Amor and Jean (Polda) Caspers and grew up in Ogema, MN. He graduated from Waubun (MN) High School in 1965. Steve attended MSU in Moorhead, MN and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He started working for the Becker County Highway Department in 1972 and worked there until the time of his death.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sue Caspers of Detroit Lakes; two sons: Andy of Fargo, ND and Mike in graduate school in Lawrence, KA; his mother, Jean Caspers of Detroit Lakes; two brothers: Ronald of Richwood, MN and Donovan “Doc” of Mountain Home, ID; one sister, Eloise (Michael) Luhm of Rio WI; three nieces; two nephews and several cousins.
Steve enjoyed golfing with friends, deer hunting and dark-house spearing. He also enjoyed salmon fishing in Idaho. He enjoyed sports; especially watching his boys play football and hockey.
Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
