Steven Joseph Erickson, age 46, formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away on March 17, 2012 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico after a sudden illness. Funeral Services for Steven will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, rural Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Cemetery.
Steven was born on August 18, 1965 to Charles H. Erickson and Rita A. Erickson at St. Mary´s Hospital, Detroit Lakes. Steve graduated from Detroit Lakes High School and attended Fergus Falls Community College. He married Claudia Torres Venegas on April 19, 1997. Steve was the Sales Director at Cabo Villas Beach Resort and Spa in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He helped develop this resort with the Erickson family. His passion for sales, and the sales methods he implemented, will live on forever in the resort sales industry. Steve was never happier than when he was in the woods and with nature. His time spent with family and friends in "deer camp" was always his favorite occasion each year. He is survived by his wife Claudia, and two lovely daughters, Regina, and Valentina; his mother, Rita (Gilbert) Wicker, his step-mother: Bonnie Erickson, his brothers Chris (Ilda), Jed (Amy), and nephews Diego, Alex, Jake and nieces Renata and Anika, as well as his step brothers Gary, Ron and Mike Wicker and stepsisters: Sharin Wicker and Sue Olmstead. Preceding him in death were his father Charles Erickson, and his paternal grandparents Edmund and Margaret Erickson and maternal grandparents Vincent "Shado" and Eleanor Wagner. The Erickson family gratefully acknowledges your attendance and the many kind expressions of sympathy during our time of loss, and invites you to join us at the Shorewood Pub in Detroit Lakes at 4 PM. following Steve's service. Count on a good time and very lively ambiance as we celebrate Steve's life. We all know Steve would have wanted it that way. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for his daughters.
