Steven Mann, 43, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Steven James Mann was born on February 27, 1977 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, MN to Jim and Sybil (Anderson) Mann. In 1978, they moved to Campbell, MN, after their home was destroyed by a tornado. Steve attended school and graduated from Campbell-Tintah in 1995. He went to Sunday school and was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Campbell.
Steve was always a unique person. Interested in how everything worked or could be made “better”. Always ready for an adventure. He had many stories that he would colorfully share. He met Sheila Sutherland and for the last 12 years they’ve been together. They lived in Fargo, ND, and most recently moved to the Detroit Lakes area. Health issues followed from the age of eight when he was diagnosed with type one diabetes to dialysis and a kidney transplant in 2018 and heart surgery in 2016.
Steve was always ready to help those around him and will be remembered for his ability to try anything, talk to anyone about things from politics to cooking.
Steve is survived by his girlfriend Sheila Sutherland; Sheila’s children Kyla and Ashlee, his sons Austin and Brandon; his parents Jim and Sybil Mann; his sister-in-law Lindy and her children Leslie, Kaitlynn, Allison and Colton; his aunt Kathy Anderson; his cousin Kayla (Brad) Winnike and their family; Barry (Wendy) Anderson and their family; and many people that Steve called his friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Autumn Mann; his brother, Mitchel Mann; uncles, John Anderson and Stanley Mann; and grandparents, Ora and Dorothy Mann and J. Maurice and Mayvice Anderson.
