Tammy Regina Koehnen, 55, passed away on October 27, 2023, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND surrounded by her family.
Tammy was born on July 23, 1968, in Glencoe, MN, the daughter of John and Colleen (McNevin) Koehnen. Education played an important role in Tammy's life as she graduated from Sebeka High School in 1986. This milestone marked the beginning of a journey that would shape the person she became.
Tammy's career was centered around her own house cleaning business called Krystal Colleen Cleaning Service. With her dedication and attention to detail, she ensured that many homes were kept tidy and welcoming. Beyond her professional life, Tammy had an array of hobbies and interests that brought her immense joy. She loved taking long drives along back roads while listening to music that touched her soul. Playing cards was another passion of hers, with poker and whist being her favorite. Tammy's adoration for her dog, Sassy, was evident to everyone who knew her. She cherished the companionship they shared throughout the years. Additionally, Tammy had a deep appreciation for wildflowers for their delicate beauty and found solace in stormy weather. Halloween held a special place in Tammy's heart as it allowed her creativity to flourish.
Tammy Koehnen was known for being the center of attention wherever she went. Her warm personality and infectious laugh drew people in from all walks of life. She loved being surrounded by family and friends and hosting gatherings where memories were made. As a mother, Tammy had a heart full of love for her children, Krystal Koehnen and Rij Koehnen and her grandchildren. She took pride in their accomplishments and nurtured them with care.
Tammy was predeceased by her father, John (Judy) Koehnen, the father of her special friend, Roland Pihlaja, beloved friend, Dee (Doyle) Olson, and her dog Sassy whom just passed at age 20.
Surviving Tammy are her children, Krystal Koehnen and Rij Koehnen, grandchildren: Kayden Chadbourne and his father, Sean Chadbourne, Autumn Illg and her father, Ross Illg, Ryder Koehnen, and Rhody Koehnen, her loving mother, Colleen Koehnen, and special friend, Kevin Pihlaja, along with his mother Darlene Pihlaja, who offered unwavering support and were cherished members of Tammy's extended family. She is also survived by her siblings: Jennifer Koehnen, Angela Holland, Mark Koehnen, and Sherri Schwartz, close friends, Heidi Clements and Marie Rainey, and several others as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 4PM – 6PM, Friday, November 3, 2023 at David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
Prayer Service: 6PM, Friday, November 3, 2023 at David-Donehower Funeral Home with Celebrant Becky Jackson to officiate.
Celebration of Life: 11AM, Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Osage with Pastor Bill Knack to officiate.
