Tara Schermerhorn

Tara A. Schermerhorn, 51, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Reverend Jillene Galatin, officiating. Interment will be in Senjen Cemetery, rural Detroit Lakes. Friends may call 4:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, September 22, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at David-Donehower Funeral Home and at the church 1 hour prior to the service on Monday. Tara Ann Schermerhorn was born February 14, 1962 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Gerald and Carol (Schmidt) Johnson. She spent her early years in the Detroit Lakes-Lake Park area. Tara was united in marriage to Roger Schermerhorn March 17, 1978 in Detroit Lakes. They lived in the Detroit Lake area where Tara worked for Lake View Greenhouse primarily in the production of Pam's Salsa. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren, sewing, knitting, reading, cooking and riding on the motorcycle with Roger. Survivors include her husband, Roger, a son: Mark (Tiffany) Schermerhorn of Detroit Lakes, a daughter: Amy (Josh) Kilde of Detroit Lakes, eight grandchildren: Paige, Angela, Madelyn, Gabriel, Ean, Noah, Isabella, Mia, her parents: Donald and Carol Welty of Clear Lake, IA, a brother: Bruce (Laura) Johnson of Detroit Lakes, three sisters: Linda (Jeff) Schlauderaff of Detroit Lakes, Julie (Terry) Bilky of Mason City, IA and Shelly (Bill) Sellers of Clear Lake, IA. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Marie and her father, Gerald Johnson.
