Thomas Patrick Hanlon was born January 13, 1940 in Dublin, Ireland to Thomas Patrick and Mary Gertrude (Proctor) Hanlon. He was raised and educated in Dublin, attending grades 1 – 8 at Presentation Convent. Tom is a 1958 graduate of Terenure College. He served with the FCA in Ireland 1957 – 1959. He worked at the Ford dealership with his father where he learned to sell and repair automobiles. He came to the United States in December, 1967 where he worked for Import Auto Sales in Long Beach, CA. Tom was united in Marriage to Barbara Ann Noll, June 28, 1975 in Hobart, IN. They made their home in Long Beach. He also took law classes at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA. He became a U. S. Citizen in 1977. He worked as service manager for Bill Jones Sports Car Agency in Costa Mesa, for Hegert Imports in Huntington Beach and operated Hanlon Foreign Car Service in Laguna Hills. They moved to Detroit Lakes, MN August 15, 1984 where he owned and operated Hanlon Foreign Car Service 1985 – 2000. He then drove bus for Olander Bus Service, was a courtesy driver for Norseman Motors and was a greeter at Walmart. Tom received a certification in Smog Analysis and was a certified scuba diver in Los Angeles County and served two terms on the Holy Rosary School Board. He enjoyed singing in the church choir, the Wefest Gospel Choir, and several Irish singing groups including Northwoods Crossing. He also enjoyed time with his family, storytelling, camping, was a WWII buff and enjoyed being the first one to dive into the lake in the spring. Tom is survived by his wife, Barbara of Minnetonka, MN, 4 daughters: Erin (Terrell Durrant) Hanlon of Eden Prairie, MN, Megan (Arturo) de la Cruz of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Tara (Jonathan Nevins) Hanlon-Nevins of Minneapolis, MN, Katie Anneliese Hanlon of Minnetonka, MN, 1 granddaughter, Pearl Mae and Megan is due in May, 2 brothers, George (Emily) of Maynooth, Ireland, John (Lyla) of Prosperous, Ireland, a sister, Margaret (David Harris) Hanlon of Mountainside, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kenneth O'Hanlon and a sister, Maureen Collins. Cards may be sent to the family at 3320 Wildwood Trail, Minnetonka, MN 55305.
