Thomas Johnson

Thomas Peter Johnson was born November 17, 1936 in Nome, North Dakota to Leonard and Vernice (Thompson) Johnson. He moved with his family to Detroit Lakes in 1946 and is a 1954 graduate of Detroit Lakes High School. Tom was united in marriage to Darlene Kohler in December , 1955 in Detroit Lakes. They later divorced. He was united in marriage to Mary Sundt Kunz, December 30, 1983 in Detroit Lakes. During his working life, Tom farmed and delivered propane for Skelgas and for Ferrellgas. He also operated Tom Johnson Black Dirt and Gravel Company and was a long time area bait dealer in the area. Following his retirement in 1999, he made plant hangers, planters and a number of lawn decorations out of old propane tanks. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Detroit Lakes; 2 sons and 2 daughters: Danny (Carol) of Audubon, MN; Brian of Erhard, MN; Christy Johnson of Detroit Lakes, MN; Brenda Jo Christianson of Pelican Rapids, MN; 4 Step-Daughters: Christine (Don Parker) Krajsa of Elk River, MN; Joan Kunz of Detroit Lakes; Patricia Bloomquist of Cambridge, MN; Catherine (Tom) Lesewski of Minnetonka, MN; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Bob (Dianne) of Detroit Lakes; Gary (Donna) of Inver Grove Heights, MN and Paul (Jan) of Bondurant, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Leonard, a sister: Violet Fairbanks and a sister-in-law: Carol Johnson
