Thomas Lewis

Thomas F. Lewis, 53, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Sunday, December 26 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, December 30 at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, Pastor Matt McKenzie, officiating. Friends may call at David-Donehower Funeral Home from 9:30 – 10:30 AM on Thursday. Thomas Fredrick Lewis was born September 25, 1957 in Fargo, ND to Arlie W. and Delores (Blumhagen) Lewis. He attended Madison Elementary school, Ben Franklin Jr. High and Fargo North High School. While in high school, he worked loading trucks for Red Owl in Fargo and later for the Holiday Inn and for Industrial Builders. Since February, 1979, Tom has worked in the Ag Service Center at North Dakota State University. Tom was united in marriage to Joyce Hord, September 3, 1982 in Fargo, ND. They moved to Detroit Lakes, MN in 1988. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, spending time at the lakes, fishing, hunting, farming and with his rock lapidary. He was the rock and sounding board of the family. Survivors include his wife: Joyce of Detroit Lakes; a daughter: Bonnie (Matt) Johnson of Lake Park, MN; two grandchildren: Chase and Brianna Johnson; his mother: Delores Lewis of Fargo, ND; a sister: Arlinda Lewis of Fargo, ND and two brothers: Tracy (Jean) Lewis of Kindred, ND and Jay Lewis of Horace, ND. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother & father-in-law: Clarence and Borgie Hord and several uncles.
