Timothy Mitchell

Timothy Lee Mitchell, 36, Detroit Lakes and East Grand Forks, died unexpectedly on Friday, December 1, 2023.

He was born in Grand Forks, ND on March 22, 1987, a son of Barbara (Mason) Bennett and the late Loran Mitchell.  Tim attended East Grand Forks Senior High School and went on to work for Northern Plains Grain Inspection. 

Tim loved anything to do with cars!  He bought, fixed up, detailed, and sold lots of cars. He loved driving them and working on them, and always took great care of whatever he was driving.  Another love of Tim’s was for dogs.  He loved training and working with them, and was involved with Leader Dogs for the Blind, a cause that gave him lots of purpose. He enjoyed fishing and had recently taken an interest in making candles.  Tim also loved pulling pranks on people and was always trying to give friends and family a scare!  He will be sadly missed.

Tim is survived by his mother, Barbara, his sisters: Tricia (Robert) Wagley of Reno, NV, Miranda (Christopher) Sherman, Stacia (Chris) Gjerde and Veronica Hanson, all of Detroit Lakes.  He also leaves his grandfather, William Jeffery of Fosston, MN, aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as other relatives and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, his paternal grandparents, his maternal grandmother, a paternal uncle, and several friends.

A memorial gathering will be held for Tim on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 10 AM at DAVID-DONEHOWER FUNERAL HOME (609 US HWY 10 E., Detroit Lakes, MN 56501).  A memorial service will follow at 11 AM.  Final rest will be in Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks.
