Timothy Vavrosky

Timothy W. Vavrosky was born May 15, 1932 in Pisek, ND to Timothy and Minnie (Nymon) Vavrosky. He moved with his family to Park River, ND as an infant. He is a 1950 graduate of Park River High School where he was an All-State football and basketball athlete. Following graduation, he attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Tim was united in marriage to Carol Bergquam in 1952 in Park River. He worked with his father in selling insurance and real estate in Park River. Tim and Carol moved to Fargo, ND in 1967, and, in 1969, Tim joined Warner and Company as an insurance broker. He later became one of the vice-presidents of the company. He and Carol later divorced. Tim was united in marriage to Gerry Troland February 14, 1981 in Blaine, MN. They made their home in Fargo. Tim retired in 1993 and they moved to their home near Lake Eunice in rural Audubon in 1999 and spent their winters in Mission, TX. In 1997, Tim was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease which resulted in his entering Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes September 5, 2008.
Tim was an avid participant at the YMCA in Fargo; was an active sports fan, especially of UND hockey, University of MN Football, basketball and hockey, and loved to play golf. He loved his time at the lake and, in his younger years, was a Red Cross swimming instructor. He was active in his churches at Park River, Nativity Catholic Church in Fargo and St. Mary of the Lakes near Pelican Lake. He loved to dance and cherished time with his family. Tim also enjoyed music from classical to the Mariachi Bands in Mission, Texas and in Mexico.
Survivors include his wife, Gerry of Detroit Lakes, children: Michael Soaringhawk of Grand Forks, ND, Rebecca Vavrosky of Anacortes, WA, Steven (Joanne) Vavrosky of Pine City, MN, Greg (Kris) Troland of W. Fargo, ND, Lark (Howard) Lomsdal of Frazee, MN, Bruce Troland of Detroit Lakes, MN; eight grandchildren, Amy Vavrosky, Emily Zuber, Adam Zuber, Reid Vavrosky, Dustin Scott, Lindsey Groettum, Katie Williams, Heather Black; three great grandchildren: Alyssa and Maren Black and Dylan Scott; a brother: Ronald (Marjorie) Vavrosky of Park River, ND.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas, a grandson, Ryan Scott, his parents, Timothy and Minnie, and his mother and father-in-law: Lillian and Sander Bagne.
