Tommy R. Gagnier, 65, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Tuesday, August 22 at his home.
Tommy Rene Gagnier was born August 21, 1958 in Ellensburg, WA to Joseph Rene and Margaret (Richter) Gagnier. He moved with his family to Detroit Lakes, MN as a child. He is a 1976 graduate of Detroit Lakes High School. Following graduation, he took his EMT training and worked for the Detroit Lakes Ambulance Service and for the Ski Patrol at Detroit Mountain. Tommy was united in marriage to Pauline S. Dilly, December 31, 1979 in Coeur d’Alene, ID. They made their home in Ellensburg, WA and Lake Tahoe, Ca. Tom became a carpenter, working in building construction, moving to Missouri, Fergus Falls, MN and Detroit Lakes, MN in 2000. He was proud of the fact that he designed, drafted and built his home in rural Detroit Lakes. He was a member of Holy Rosary Council of the Knights of Columbus and served as an AA Councilor.
Survivors include a son: Chris of South Lake Tahoe, CA, his mother, Margaret of Edmonds, WA, sisters; Rene’e (David) Lunde of Fergus Falls, MN, Tamie Guffey of Burnet, TX, Lisa (Jack) Stravos of Edmonds, WA, a sister; Aunt Betty (Jim) Diesem of Rochert, MN, and Aunt Barbara Gagnier of Detroit Lakes, MN.
He is preceded in death by his father; Rene, Uncle Maurice, a brother-in-law; Cary Guffey and a nephew; Dane Guffey.
Friends may call 4:00 – 6:00 pm Thursday, August 31 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. There will be a prayer service at 5:00 pm followed be a Knights of Columbus Rosary all at the church. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the mass at the church on Friday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 pm, Friday, September 1 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
