Vickie Schmidt

Vickie M. Schmidt, 62, of Lake Park, MN, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at her home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, surrounded by her family and friends.  Her incredible faith, courage, positivity, and grace in the midst of battling cancer, were to be admired by all who knew her.

Vickie was born to Walter and Janice Rodlund on May 30, 1957, in Bottineau, ND.  She grew up in Fargo, ND, and graduated from Fargo South High in 1975.  Vickie later got her degree in Accounting and Business at Interstate Business College.

Vickie was united in marriage to Gene Schmidt on August 8, 1980 at Nativity Catholic Church in Fargo, ND.  Together they raised two sons, Tom and Mark.

Over the years, Vickie worked various jobs.  In 1997, she opened Schmidt & Associates and later opened Schmidt Consulting, where she worked until her illness kept her from doing what she loved.

Vickie loved the lake where she enjoyed her time on the pontoon, fishing, gardening, and going to rummage sales with her friends.

Vickie will be forever missed and loved by her husband Gene, sons Tom (Dionne) and Mark (Kristin); sisters Kim Mohr and Cindy (Steve) Murdock; father-in-law John (Sharon) Schmidt; and sister-in-law Lori (Wayne) Schmaltz.  She is also survived by her aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends that loved her dearly.

Vickie is preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law, Dorothy, her grand-parents, and several family and friends who welcomed her with open arms.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at 1:00pm at Cormorant Sportsman Club, Cormorant, MN, with an Open House Celebration of Life to follow until 4:00pm.  Arrangements are entrusted to David Donehower Funeral & Cremation Services in Detroit Lakes, MN.
