Viola Bertha Peipus

Viola Bertha Peipus was born February 18, 1950, in Ellendale, North Dakota, the daughter of Frank and Ruby (Aanerud) Barsness. She passed away January 9, 2023, at Golden Manor Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

She grew up and attended school in Waubun. Viola was united in marriage to John Anderson on October 18, 1968. She enjoyed   gardening and was an animal lover-especially dogs.  When the kids were younger, Viola cared for them as well as for all kinds of animals.  Viola enjoyed watching and collecting movies, playing video games, and was known for her sense of humor and being the “fun mom”.

Viola married Daniel Peipus in South Dakota and they made their home in Detroit Lakes, Viola worked at hotels in the area in housekeeping, and later as a cook at Country Kitchen. Viola and Dan “Zig” enjoyed CB radios and traveling.

She is survived by her children: Shawn Anderson, Steven (Carol) Anderson, Sheilla (Arlan Bergstrom) Anderson, Bruce (Toni) Anderson; grandchildren Jadon, Brittany, Christian, Dohnivan, Destany, Alex, Kylee, Ashton; great grandchildren Layla; siblings: Raymond (Shirley) Barsness, Ann Starrett.

Viola was proceeded in death by her parents; Frank and Ruby Barsness; husband: Daniel Peipus; stepdad: Ray Ford.
