Warren W. "Dude" Warren, 82, Waubun, MN, died Wednesday, October 8 at the Mahnomen Health Care Center surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 PM Saturday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in White Earth, MN. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, White Earth. Friends may call 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at David-Donehower Funeral Home. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the mass at the church on Saturday. Warren W. "Dude" Warren was born March 9, 1931 in White Earth, MN to John and Isabelle (Bellcourt) Warren Sr. He attended Waubun High School in Waubun, MN. In 1947, at the age young of 16, he joined the U. S. Air Force where he served with the Communications Squadron, Second Air Base Group. He was honorable discharged, June 25, 1950. Dude was united in marriage to Sherlene "Tootsie" Fairbanks, April 11, 1952 in Kenosha, WI. He moved his family to Silver Lake, WI in 1961 and attended carpentry school. He then returned to White Earth where he worked at Johnson's Bee Farm and at the Ogema Saw Mill. He built fireplaces for Snappy, Inc. in Detroit Lakes and then became the White Earth Housing Director. He served one term on the White Earth Reservation Business Committee (now the Reservation Tribal Council), serving District III. He worked for the Reservation Conservation Department as a wild rice technician for many years prior to his retirement. Dude and several other people in White Earth began the White Earth Community Council in 1972. They started the Tuesday night BINGO to generate funds for the community which eventually resulted in the purchase of the first fire truck for White Earth. Dude loved to hunt, fish and go ricing. He made the best smoked fish, was a great story teller, loved to tell jokes and treasured time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sherlene of Waubun, children, David of Bemidji, MN, Terri (Dale) Boyer of Callaway, MN, Beverly Warren of Bemidji, Michael of Waubun, Debra Warren of Bemidji, many grand and great grandchildren, five brothers, Lyne (Wallyann) Warren of Ogema, MN, Russell of Ogema, Stanley (Ginny) of Callaway, Joe (Sherian) of Ogema, Ron Sr. of White Earth, a sister, Kathy Hummingbird of White Earth. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Warren Sr., his parents, John and Isabelle Warren, three brothers, Ray, John Jr. and Roger and a sister, Margerite Dalve.
