Wesley H. Schlauderaff, 87, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, December 6, at St. Mary?s Nursing Center in Detroit Lakes, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 12, at 11:00 am in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes with Fr. Jerry Rogers officiating.



Visitation will be 4-8 PM Tuesday December 11, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 PM, followed by a Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 PM; all at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.



Wesley Henry Schlauderaff was born May 21, 1920 to Henry and Lydia (Bohnsack) Schlauderaff in Detroit Lakes. He was raised in Detroit Lakes and attended School District 39. Wesley was united in marriage with Anna Amundson from Ogema, MN on November 6, 1945 in Detroit Lakes. He had lived his entire life in the same house on the farm where he was born. Wesley farmed with his Dad and brother, Harvey, until 1952. From that point forward, he stayed on the home farm and continued to raise dairy animals and field crops with the help of his 14 children, until 1981 when he retired.



Wesley belonged to Holy Rosary Church, the Cormorant and Becker County Sportsman?s Club and the Knights of Columbus. He loved nature and was fond of all animals; especially horses, birds, cattle and dogs. Wesleys hobbies were hunting (in Montana, Wyoming and Minnesota), gardening, fishing and the annual Rollag Steam Threshers Reunion. He had won honorary FFA Fair Builder of the Past award and had delivered Meals on Wheels for many years throughout Detroit Lakes. Wesley also belonged to the cattle Shippers Association Board and the local Coop-Creamery.



Wesley will be remembered and missed by his wife of 62 years, Anna of Detroit Lakes; six daughters, Roxanne and her husband Merlin Engum of Detroit Lakes, Linda and her husband John Schons of Detroit Lakes, Patricia Johnson and Walter Draack of Frazee, MN, Bonnie and her husband Alfred Olds of Detroit Lakes, Barbara and her husband Lionel St. Godard of West Hawk Lake, Manitoba, Joyce and her husband Wallace Holm of Detroit Lakes; eight sons, Daniel and his wife Barbara of Detroit Lakes, Gary and his wife Barbara of Detroit Lakes, Frank and his wife Sue of Hankinson, ND, Tim and his wife Stephanie of Barnesville, MN, Jeff and his wife Linda of Detroit Lakes, Wayne and his wife Dawn of Detroit Lakes, Bruce of Detroit Lakes, Mark and his wife Sherri of St. Michael, MN. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 26 step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his dog Buddy. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; one infant daughter; one grand daughter; two grandsons; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Mable Egan; three brothers, Henry, Delbert and Harvey.
