Wilfred John Disse known to many as "Fritz" was born in Erie Township, rural Detroit Lakes on August 26, 1921 to Edward and Elizabeth (Eidenschink) Disse.
Fritz was united in marriage to Ardelle Moe on May 29, 1947 in Detroit Lakes. They owned and operated 4-Corner Store at county roads 21 & 26 for three years before going to work for his brother Art. Fritz and Ardelle moved to Hermiston, OR where Fritz worked on the McNary Dam. They moved back to Detroit Lakes in 1953. Fritz raised turkeys on what is now part of the Tamarac Refuge. In 1959 he bought his father's farm continuing with the turkeys until 1963 when he started his mink farm. In 1970 he returned to raising turkeys again along with beef cattle. Ardelle passed away in 1991 and Fritz retired in 1994. He still enjoyed helping on the farm but also enjoyed working in the field, bailing and raking hay, deer hunting, polkas and waltzes and most importantly spending time with family and friends during the holidays.
