William Englund

William D. Englund, 86, Callaway, MN, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 10, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in White Earth, MN, Fr. Andrew Sensenig, O.M.I., officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, White Earth. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Monday with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at David-Donehower Funeral Home. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the mass at the church on Tuesday. William Dean Englund was born May 14, 1928 in Callaway, MN to Sigfred and Josephine (Vizenor) Englund. He was raised and educated in rural Callaway. Bill served with the U. S. Army 1951 – 1953. He was united in marriage to Betty Beaver December 18, 1953 in Detroit Lakes. He loved the outdoors and took many hunting trips across the United States and Canada. Betty died in 1999. Survivors include three sons and a daughter: Dan (Patty) Englund of Detroit Lakes, Richard Englund of Callaway, Patrick (Jeanne) Englund of Callaway, Dawn (Mike) Heisler of Ogema, MN, 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, two sisters: Phyllis Braun of Grand Junction, CO and Kathy Jahnke in Minnesota. In addition to his wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by a son, William, his parents, two brothers: Kenneth and Neil and a sister, Patty Thompson.
