Wilmar Edward Hanks, 47, of White Earth, MN passed away on Saturday, January 30th, 2021. A Traditional Native American Visitation will start on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 4 PM, at the White Earth Community Center. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 10 AM, at the White Earth Community Center.
Wilmar Edward Hanks was born on February 14, 1973, in Minneapolis, MN to Barbara Hanks and Wilmar Skippingday. Wilmar lived in the Minneapolis area before moving to White Earth, MN about ten years ago. Wilmar was nicknamed “Willy-John” or “Willy” but, preferred to be called “Will”. Will has four children Victoria, Jasmin, Tyrone, and Savanna. He always talked about his children and loved them all so very much. He was a great protector and loved to help his family in any way he could. He was also very thoughtful and considerate. Will loved to travel, going to the casino to play slots, read books about the “Anishinaabe Way of Life”, he also just learned to rice. But, Will’s favorite thing to do was to visit all of his friends and family and make sure they were all ok. Will loved his culture and was very proud of his heritage.
Left to mourn his passing are his parents Barbara Hanks and Wilmar Skippingday; children Victoria, Jasmin, Tyrone, and Savanna; siblings Janet, Julie, Shashana, and Brenda; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding Will in death were his grandparents George and Audrey Hanks, and Benjamin and Cecelia Skippingday; numerous aunts, uncles, and extended family.
